Phew, what a long weekend. It started on Friday 11th July when we had our Senior Management Dialogue. I drove up to Genting at 8.00 am and reached there a little after 9.15 am. The sessions were ok… normal and I did not say much. Only when it came to the topic of international students… he he he …. Meetings are meetings and there is nothing much really to explain about it. It was my first time as a participant in the Senior Management Dialogue but it was not a big deal for me because I know all the members of the Senior Management Dialogue. In actual fact, I was also asked to present a paper the day before in the Presidential Council Meeting, most of the members of that meeting too are in the Council so it was nothing new to me. I just wonder if I would be involved next year. That evening was more fruitful than the meeting as I had time to sit down with some of the principals from associate campuses to talk about business…
I find myself now talking more and more about business these days… I guess being in charge of this subsidiary forces you to talk and think that way. I am afterall responsible for the bottom line.
Bottom line… wow… since when did I learn how to use this word? In the past 1 year for sure… Ask a normal employee and they may not know what that is (if they are stuck in own little tempurung).
The next day was also a continuation. It was the Strategic Camp for us and more colleagues joined us from the various campuses. Again the days activities revolved around discussions and papers which I found myself not participating much in… I was assisting the Genting campus in controlling their PA system in the technicians room… jadi technician la konon…. and so my mind idled along… at night however, the topics totally did not relate to my subsidiary and another subsidiary… thus, the people from that subsidiary and myself took the liberty of excusing ourselves and going up to donate some money to our late "Uncle Lim". My colleague donated some to him but I was lucky enough to get some donations from him… and so we went down again to the campus after 2 hours.
Upon reaching the campus, I heard the sound of people singing… YES… they were singing and I wanted to join them… So, from about 10.30 pm till 1.30 am the next day, we spent our time singing our lungs out…. (so much so that I found out the next day, people in the surrounding areas were wondering what was happening… ha ha ha) I really enjoyed this time round….
As a summary…. this was an enjoyable and fruitful camp for me as I really managed to get the attention of most of the principals so that I can work with them. This means if they totally agree with my proposal that I would be travelling more often maybe to Sabah and Sarawak this year.
Also I met colleagues from Sabah and was so happy to find that one of them iws a Kadazan. It was so sad that I only met him on the last day. Otherwise it would have been good to have spent more time with him… ha ha ha … Miss all my Sabah gang… sigh… anyway, it’s ok… I’ll be going back there soon… ok la that’s all for now… Cheers…
